He is an Afghan novelist, writer and director, born in Kabul in 1962, and moved to France in 1985 as a political refugee. He continued his university studies at Sorbonne Université until he obtained his Ph.D. In addition to writing several novels, he co-directed Earth and Ashes, The Patience Stone, and Our Lady of the Nile.
