An American actor, politician, and diplomat, born in Washington, D.C., and educated at Harvard Law School. He then served in the United States Navy, and served as a member of the United States House of Representatives (Congress). Among his credits are The Scarlet Empress, Bank Holiday, and Menace. He died on October 29, 1985.
