An American actress, born on March 29, 1919, in Columbus, Ohio, USA. One of her most famous films is Butterflies Are Free, for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1973. She also co-starred in a number of plays. She is known for Heartbreak Ridge (1986), Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956), and The First Wives Club (1996). She died on December 31, 2001, in Norwalk, Connecticut, USA.
