An American writer and former police officer, born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He holds a BA in Sociology, Physical Education, and Recreation from Eastern New Mexico University, a MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, and a PhD in Comparative Techniques...Read more for Teaching Police Officers How to Categorize Homicides from Nova Southeastern University. He joined the FBI in 1970, and his first assignment was in Detroit, Michigan. In 1976, he moved to the FBI's Behavioral Sciences Unit, where he studied applied criminal psychology at the FBI Academy and taught a course in criminal psychology to police officers in the United States. John has written several books on behavioral crimes and the psychology of crimes. His artistic works include the film The Lovely Bones and the series Mindhunter.
