British actor, born on September 27, 1907 in England. His father was a farm worker and his mother was a cook. He attended Bishops' School in Hillingdon. After completing his education at Pembroke College, Oxford, he entered theater in the 1930s. He worked as a teacher for a while and then joined the New Theater in London. In 1937, he worked for the Herbert Fargon Revue Company and established his theatrical career. He has appeared in relatively few films, served as a director, producer and screenwriter, and began appearing in British feature films in the mid-1930s. He appeared in several national films. One of his works is The Man Who Knew Too Much. He died on June 14, 1991 in UK.
