British film producer, director, and actor, born on July 28, 1920 in London. He is the son of the British-American actor Victor McLaglen, who moved to Hollywood in the early 1920s, shortly after Andrew's birth. He was from a film family that included eight uncles and an aunt. He worked as an assistant director in a few smaller films. John Ford gave him a job as an assistant director in a 1952 movie. After several more jobs, he directed his first film, Man in the Vault (1956), which was followed by Gun the Man Down in 1956. He died on August 30, 2014 in Washington, at the age of 94.
