British actor born in Brixton, London on 20 April 1935. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and then joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. He started working in television in the mid-1950s then made his film debut on The Moonraker (1958). His notable works include Look Back in Anger (1959), El Cid (1961), Jason and the Argonauts (1963), and The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965). He was married to actress Delena Kidd and had 3 children.
