An American actress, born in Clarinda, Iowa, on August 3, 1921. In her teens, she worked at the Rialto Theatre in Indiana, then worked as a radio singer, and in 1942 she signed a contract with MGM and presented radio programs such as The Abbott and Costello Show. In the same year, she presented her first movie, Stand by for Action (1942), after which she became a star in many films during the forties and fifties, including Thousand Cheer (1943) and Key to the City (1950). During the fifties, she focused on television, where her most prominent roles were in the series The Red Skelton Show (1956), and Bus Stop (1961). Among her other notable works are 3 Men in White (1944), Champion (1949), Off Limits (1952), and Rock-a-Bye Baby (1958). She died in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, on March 20, 1972, of a heart attack.
