British actor, born on 21 August 1927 in Nottinghamshire, UK. He received a scholarship to attend the Central School of Speech and Drama. His works include The Battle of Britain Play (1969), Ryan's Daughter (1970), Frenzy (1972), and Sweeney! (1977). He died of a heart attack on 11 February 2002 in Guildford, Surrey, UK.
