A Romanian film director of Armenian origin, who left Armenia after the ethnic conflict in 1988 and studied film and television directing at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. In 2000, he directed his first documentary film, Shelters Without Shadows, which won...Read more the Baku International Film Festival. In 2001, he founded his production studio, Buta Film. In 2011, he directed his first feature film, Buta, which won several awards at various festivals, including the Isfahan International Film Festival Award. In 2013, he directed Pomegranate Orchard, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
