An actor, radio presenter, and one of the first stars of modern pop music, born on July 28, 1901 in Bond Island, Vermont, USA and was raised in Vermont. He began his career as a saxophone singer and then co-starred in his first feature film in the 1929 drama, The Vagabond Lover for RKO Radio. He also participated in The Palm Beach Story (1942), and Diggers in Paris (1938). He died on July 3, 1986 in North Hollywood, California, USA, of cancer.
