An American writer, film, radio and television actor, and talk show host, born May 1, 1918, Canton, Ohio, United States. Paar was nominated for a Primetime Emmy award for Best Performance by a Continuing Character in a Musical or Variety Series in 1951. He is best known for Walk Softly, Stranger (1950), The Tonight Show Starring Jack Paar (1957-1962), and Down Among the Sheltering Palms (1952). He died on January 27, 2004 in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA.
