An American actor who was born in Athens, Wisconsin, on May 26, 1884. Charles Winninger received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his work on radio. Charles is best known for his roles in: Show Boat (1836), and Three Smart Girls (1936). He was well trained in the world of Vaudeville, and his comedic performance was highly convincing. He left school at the age of 8. Broadway benefited from Charles' comedy and musical talent, and his first wife, Blanche Ring, worked with him in Broadway and Vaudeville theaters until the end of the twenties. Hollywood began to benefit from his talent in the early thirties when he appeared in films such as Soup to Nuts (1930), and Woman Chases Man (1937). In the fifties, television roles dominated many of his works, and he continued to work until he retired in the early sixties. He died in Palm Springs, California, on January 27, 1969.
