A Japanese animator and director, born in 1981 in Japan. She began collaborating in 2007 with her husband, Max Porter, in TV commercials, music videos, and independent films. They are known for their films that use multimedia, and in which they mix handmade art, photography, and digital technologies. She is known for Negative Space (2017), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film ​with co-director Max Porter.
