An Australian actor, born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, as Francis William Thring. He married once. Frank Thring's most important works include Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), The Vikings (1958), Ben-Hur (1959), and King of Kings (1961). Frank often played the role of a villain. He began his work in radio before becoming an actor, and he was born into an artistic environment. His father was a pioneer in early film and theater production in Australia, and he was also the pioneer of the invention of the clapperboard. Frank Thring followed in his father's footsteps and founded his own theatrical production company, took over its management, and presented his shows in Melbourne and in Britain in 1954 at the Kew Theater. In 1959, he signed a contract with the Union Theatre Repertory Company in Melbourne to become a regular film actor there. He died in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on December 29, 1994, of cancer.
