• A Norwegian author, poet, and artist, born in the town of Älvdal, Hedmark county, Norway. He studied at the Storstigen Agricultural College. His father, Lars Olsen Åukrust, was the...Read more rector of the university and a politician in the Farmers' Party. He was then accepted at the Oslo National Academy, where he received his education. During World War II, he traveled extensively in the regions and worked for a time as an illustrator for the newspaper Fortland. He soon became a professional artist despite being colorblind. His wife, Kari Holter, assisted him in selecting the right colors. He was the youngest artist ever accepted into the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry. His most famous works include Freske fraspark (1963), Flåklypa Grand Prix (1975), and Flåklypa Grand Prix (2000).
