A Canadian actress, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Before she was fifteen years old, she signed a contract with MGM in 1936. Later, she signed with Universal, where director Henry Koster introduced her in the films Three Smart Girls (1936) and One Hundred Men and a Girl...Read more (1937). After the failure of her first two marriages, she asked her third husband, director Charles David, to provide her with a quiet life away from the limelight, as she moved to a suburb on the outskirts of Paris, and lived her family life away from fame. She won the Academy Juvenile Award with Mickey Rooney in 1939, and she also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. She married three times and had two children. Her works include Mad About Music (1938) and It's a Date (1940).
