An American novelist and classicist, born in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for his Oscar-winning novel Love Story, which was adapted into a film. He has been a professor of classics at Yale and Harvard Universities. Segal also co-wrote the screenplay for the 1968 Beatles film Yellow Submarine and returned to write the sequel to his Oscar-winning novel Oliver's Story, which was also adapted into a film.
