An American director, born in New York City, USA. He spent his childhood influenced by comics and the works of the French novelist Marcel Proust. He sold his production business to finance his first work, Too Soon to Love, in 1960. His directing career began in 1960 with the film Freebie and the Bean. He participated in writing the film Air America in 1990 and the film Color of Night, which won the Golden Raspberry Award for Best Film of 1994.
