An American actor and director who was born in Denver, Colorado, on February 5, 1892 as William Merrill McCormick and died in San Gabriel, California, on August 19, 1953 of a heart attack. He is best known for: The Last Chance (1926), A Son of the Desert (1928), and The New Adventures of Tarzan (1935). Merrill made his first silent film, Between Midnight (1916), and made 25 silent films, and 300 talkies. He wrote the story of A Son of the Desert (1928) and directed Good Men & Bad (1923). He last presented two episodes of the television series The Roy Rogers Show (1953).
