An American Actress who was born in Covington, Kentucky, on December 19, 1903 and died in Los Angeles, California, on January 2, 1986. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1962 for Summer and Smoke (1961) and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for her work in cinema. Una Merkel is famous for: Private Lives (1931), The Maltese Falcon (1931), 42nd Street (1933), and The Parent Trap (1961). Una Merkel debuted with The Wind (1928), worked in Broadway theaters for some time before returning again to film work in The Abraham Lincoline (1930).
