An American actor, who was born on July 1, 1887, Council Bluffs, Iowa. He directed one short film in 1914. As an actor, he appeared in more than 100 films, spanning from 1921 until his death in 1948. On stage, he starred on Broadway from 1911 to 1937. He passed away on November 25, 1948 in Hollywood, California, at the age of 61 of heart disease. Charles de Browne's most important roles are in: Speed to Burn (1938), The Grapes of Wrath (1940), The Big Sleep (1946), The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946) .
