An American actor and director, born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, into a middle-class family. He learned drawing and dancing from his older brother, Boscoe Holder, in his dance company. He took over the management of the company in the late 1940s after Boscoe moved to London. He then moved to the United States in 1954 and began his artistic career in 1957, which continued for several years. His most important works include Carib Gold (1957), Live and Let Die (1973), Annie (1982), and Goosed (1999). He died on October 5, 2014, in New York City, from pneumonia.
