An English actor, born in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom. He began his artistic career on stage in 1905 and started appearing in films in 1911. He moved to Hollywood in 1940 and played the roles of servants. He is known for Ball of Fire (1941), The Song of Bernadette (1943), and South of Algiers (1952). He died on January 16, 1958 in London, England.
