A Palestinian writer, born in the village of Kuwaykat in Acre in 1941. He previously worked as the ambassador of Palestine to Italy. He also served as a political advisor to the former President of the Palestinian National Authority Yasser Arafat, remaining in the same position until Arafat's death. He was appointed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas by a decree in 2008 to supervise the media institutions affiliated with the presidency, namely the State Information Service, the Palestinian News & Information Agency (Wafa), and the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation.
