Sunil Dutt is an Indian actor, producer, director, and social and political activist. He was born in Jhelum, Punjab, as Balraj Dutt. Then the great director Ramesh Saigal offered him a major role in the movie Railway Platform (1955). His big breakthrough was when he participated in the movie Mother India (1957). In the early 1960s, he turned to production in addition to his acting work. Later, he joined politics and social work, but he continued to work in cinema as an actor, producer, and director. His last work was Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003) with his son, actor Sanjay Dutt. He is known for Padosan (1968), Reshma Aur Shera (1971), and Khandan (1965). He received the Filmfare Award in 1963 in addition to several other honors. Sunil Dutt married Nargis, an Indian film star, and they had three children. He passed away in Bombay, Maharashtra Province, India, on May 25, 2005, due to a heart attack.
