British actor, born on December 19, 1924 in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom as Edmund Anthony Cutlar Purdom. He was educated in Stratton-on-the-Fosse, and he made his professional stage debut at the age of 21. He worked at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre for two years. He married more than once and had two children. His most famous works are The Egyptian (1954), The Prodigal (1955), and Pieces (1982). He died on January 1, 2009 in Rome, Lazio, Italy from a heart attack at the age of 84 years.
