British director, actor and producer, born on June 16, 1927, in London. His notable works include: Encounter (1955-1959), Anne of the Thousand Days (1969), and A Promise Kept: The Oksana Baiul Story (1994). He died on March 4, 2011, in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, of prostate cancer, at the age of 83.
