An American musician, songwriter, radio presenter, and actor, born on August 24, 1896, in Philadelphia. He attended school in Boston, and made his first stage appearances in an amateur show in Boston. He began in vaudeville playing the piano for violinist Ed Janis, and was 19 when he collaborated with Ben Bernie for the vaudeville film Bernie and Baker, originally a musical work. Shortly after World War I, he appeared in the film DeForest Phonofilm (1923). During World War I, Baker served in the US Navy. He also acted in The Gang's All Here (1943). He moved to Copenhagen, Denmark in 1960 and died on November 30, 1963.
