American actor born John Grinham Kerr in Manhattan, New York City, on 15 November 1931. His notable roles include: South Pacific (1958), The Pit and the Pendulum (1961), and The Streets of San Francisco (1973-1977). He won a Golden Globe for his role in the film Tea and Sympathy (1956). After he earned his J.D. degree from UCLA Law School, he practiced law in California from 1970 till he retired in 2000. He died on 2 February 2013, at age 81.
