He was the brother of physicist André Kahane and mathematician Jean-Pierre Kahane, and the son of Ernest Kahane, a biochemist and university professor. He obtained a diploma from the Institute of Advanced Cinema...Read more Studies (IDHEC) after pursuing scientific studies and learning about cinema through reading film journalism and going to cineclubs. He started his film career working as an assistant to René Clair and Christian-Jaque. He directed several films and television productions, such as The Love Mates (1970), Je suis vivante et je vous aime (1998), Papa Poule (1980-1982), and Apostrophes (1975-1979). He died on June 30, 2013, in Ivry-sur-Seine, France.
