A British film, television, theater, and radio actress, born on January 14, 1963, in Bristol, England, UK. Her mother was a teacher, and her father was a journalist and musician from Ghana. She was raised in Wickwar, Gloucestershire, and attended Katharine Lady Berkeley's School. She began studying law at Bristol Polytechnic but dropped out after two years to pursue an acting career, and she worked on stage. She played leading roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and the Royal Court Theater. She is known for Bridgerton (2020-2022) and Fractured (2019).
