A Canadian dancer, model, and Hollywood actress, born in Saint Boniface, Manitoba, Canada, as Dorothea Wilma Davis. She got married four times and had two children. At the age of 17 years old, she immigrated with her mother, a backstage worker, to Manhattan, New York, and became a fashion model with the famous John Powers agency. She appeared in high-end fashion salons and most fashion magazines, and became famous as the Chesterfield Girl. In 1939, Patrick won a talent competition organized by MGM, along with a film contract. She moved with her mother and her young son, Lester, to Hollywood, and trained in dancing and acting in MGM studios. She made her first appearance in the 1944 film Up in Arms, starring Danny Kaye. Dorothy continued to appear in films in the 1940s and 1950s, while at the same time playing various roles at the Lux Radio Theatre and the La Jolla Playhouse Conservatory. She died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on May 31, 1987, from a heart attack.
