A British actress born in Ellerker, England, on December 18, 1908. She made in her career 12 films, and presented a greater number of television works, reaching 29. She was nominated for an Academy Award in 1947 and has won several film and television awards. Celia married the writer Peter Fleming (1935-1971), had three children, and remained with him until his death in 1971. Among her most important works are: Brief Encounter (1945), This Happy Breed (1944), and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969). She died in England, on April 26, 1982 of a stroke.
