An Argentine actress, screenwriter, and theater director, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is the daughter of actor Pedro Aleandro. In late 1970, she was exiled to Paraguay because of her critical views against the military dictatorship. She moved to Spain and did not return to Argentina despite the end of the military dictatorship in 1983. In 1985, she participated in the film The Official Story, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. She also won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for the same movie. She appeared in other Argentine films that were nominated for an Oscar, such as Son of the Bride, Autumn Sun, and The Lighthouse. She also participated in Hollywood films such as One Man's War and Gaby: A True Story. Aleandro married Oscar Ferrigno, with whom she had one child, actor Oscar Ferrigno, then they divorced, so she married Eduardo Le Poole.
