Lebanese novelist and poet, born on August 6, 1945 in Beirut, Lebanon. He obtained a doctorate in modern literature from the Sorbonne University in 1974. He worked as a teacher of the Arabic language for foreigners at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University Paris 3 from 1972 to 1974 and a professor of Arabic language at the Lebanese University in Beirut from 1974 to 2008. He worked as a visiting professor at the University of Toulouse, France from April to May 1999. His novels have been translated into nine foreign languages, including “Ok Goodbye” and “Learning English".
