A South African civil rights defender, born in Cape Town, South Africa. He descends from Lithuanian and Jewish parents who immigrated to Britain in the mid-nineteenth century and joined the Communist Party there. The family later moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where their home became a meeting place for people of different races, in great challenge to the prevailing racism there. He joined the Communist Party of South Africa and was one of the youngest leaders when the African National Congress was founded under Nelson Mandela in the first half of the 1950s. Goldberg studied civil engineering and initially fought within the framework of union work. After that, he was dismissed from his job on the railways with the escalation of persecution and persecution practiced by the apartheid regime in South Africa, where laws were enacted against everything humane and democratic. The story of his imprisonment in South Africa was presented in the movie Escape from Pretoria, in which he was played by actor Ian Hart in 2020. He died on April 29, 2020, in Cape Town, South Africa.
