An American professional climber, photographer, and director, born on October 12, 1973, in Mankato, Minnesota. Even though he is originally an athlete, his passion for documenting the beauty of nature and the talent of athletes overpowered his love for sports. He won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for Free Solo (2018), which he co-directed with his wife, E. Chai Vasarhelyi.
