He is a bald American/Russian actor, born in Saint Petersburg to a father who works as an actor on October 10, 1900. He was married twice and did not have children. He loved art from a young age, and left his homeland Russia after the outbreak of the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917. He was a student at the Naval Academy of the Russian Empire. He began his artistic career in Europe and the East, before heading to the United States and working in the theater. In 1928 he began appearing in films in small roles representing foreign personalities, businessmen and petty villains. His first movie was Tempest 1928. With the outbreak of The Second World War, he moved away from the roles of aristocrats and began in the roles of the Nazis.The most important works of him: Cornered (1945), Ninotchka (1939), Dodsworth (1936) and Charlie Chan at the Opera (1936). He died in 1993, at the age of 93.
