Among her better-known role was that in the melodrama The Shanghai Gesture (1941). In 1945, she stopped acting to accompany her husband to complete his studies at Harvard Law School and then devoted herself to taking care of her children. She died in Cape Neddick, Maine, USA, on August 1, 1995.
