An American stage, screen, and TV actress, born in New York to actress Carroll Baker and theater and film director and teacher Jack Garfein. She attended Wellesley College, after which she took her mother's last name and made her TV debut in the miniseries The Holocaust (1978), for which she won an Emmy. Blanche Baker made her film debut in The Seduction of Joe Tynan (1979), then went on to appear as Mary in the television movie Mary and Joseph: A Story of Faith (1979). Later on, she appeared in a stage production of Vladimir Nabokov's novel "Lolita." However, the controversial theme of the show caused it to close after only 12 performances on Broadway, after which Baker did not appear on Broadway again, even though her performance was praised by critics. She has continued to work on TV and on the silver screen, but she hasn't achieved as much success as she did in her early twenties. She married twice and has 4 children. Among her notable works are The Girl Next Door (2007), Sixteen Candles (1984), and Jersey Justice (2014).
