An Austrian actor, born in Vienna, Austria. He studied drama in Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and made his debut in the German film Kaiserwalzer (1933). He became famous in Germany and Austria with films such as Die Liebe Siegt (1934). He moved to London in the late 1930s, then moved to United States of America. He acted with Errol Flynn in the movie The Dawn Patrol (1938), and with Gary Cooper in both Sergeant York (1941) and The Story of Dr. Wassell (1944), and with Ray Milland in Ministry of Fear (1944). He became more active in television in the 1950s, participating in many episodes of popular series. He became a US citizen in 1943. He died on December 4, 2004 in Brentwood, California, USA.
