An Indian actress, born in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. She is famous for directing the Kannada dialect serial Ye Jo Hai Zindagi. She began her career in art after entering the field of advertisements, where she played many leading roles in Marathi plays, and also turned to Kannada dialect works. In 1984, she won the Kannada Academy Award (Nataka Prashasti). In 2005, she won the Best Performance Award from the International Indian Film Academy Awards for the movie Swades. In 2008, she appeared in the Kannada movie Akka Thangi. In 2009, she appeared in the movie Ambarie. In 2010, she appeared in the Kannada movie Nanavanu. In 2011, she participated in the Kannada movie Vira Bahu. In 2012, she participated with actress Rani Mukerji in the movie Aiyaa. In 2014, Shee won the Smt Lakshmi Bai Award and acted in Aakramana.
