She was nominated twice for the Tony Award for Theatre in 1970 for Best Supporting Actress...Read more for her role in the play Applause, and in 2001 for Best Actress for her role in the play Neil Simon's Dinner Party. She won an Emmy Award for her performance in the film The Elephant Man in 1982. She later worked in the play Barefoot in the Park, Corrie, Cabaret, and the play Sally Bowles.
