An English theater and film actress, born on February 7, 1907 in Manchester, United Kingdom and the mother of actors Danielle Massey and Anna Massey. After obtaining her education in France and Germany, she was trained as an actress at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She graduated in 1926 and began her artistic career in 1929. She is known for Black Coffee (1931), Merrily We Go to Hell (1932), and The Final Test (1953). She died on September 14 1993 in Montreux, Switzerland of cancer.
