An American actress, who graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology, now known as Carnegie Mellon University, in 1949. She studied theater at the Herbert Berghof Studio in New York City and began her artistic career in the theater in 1951. She also worked in many major theaters in the United States, including the Brattle Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre, the Lincoln Theatre, and the Goodman Theatre. She participated in many works, including the role of Mrs. Pynchon in the television series Lou Grant in 1977.
