American singer and actress born Frances Newbern on 4 April 1913 in Florida, USA. She reached fame through singing on the radio. She began her career singing with Bob Hope and others then later recorded albums and appeared in a few small musicals. She then began appearing from time to time in A-list films, especially those targeted at the American forces at WWII. She made her acting debut on Every Night at Eight (1935). Other notable works of hers include Palm Springs (1936), The Hit Parade (1937) and The Bamboo Blonde (1946). She married three times. She died on 11 July 2005 in Jensen Beach, Florida.
