An American writer, director, producer, and musical artist. He is best known for creating the character of the doll "Chucky" in horror films. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in performing arts from the University of California before moving on to screenwriting. It is noteworthy that he collaborated on the screenplay for the horror film Child's Play, and he is credited with coining the name Chucky, a film that topped the box office at the time of its release and also won the Saturn Award for Best Horror Film. He began his artistic career with the film The Blue Iguana (1988), and his works include 10.5 (2004), The Rats (2002), and Freddy's Nightmares (1988-1989). He wrote, directed, and provided the soundtrack to the 1988 film The Blue Iguana, which was selected for midnight screenings in the official section of the Cannes Film Festival for the year 1988.
