She worked in the local theater and trained at MGM Studios, then signed a contract with Columbia Corporation in 1942. After she left Columbia in 1946, she moved between several companies such as Paramount, International, Fox, PRC and MGM. In the early fifties, she went to work in television with a few films. Her most important works include: My Winnipeg (2007), Detour (1945) and Satan's Cradle (1949). After the death of her husband in 1969, she spent her time learning to fly, and occupied several odd jobs to pay the expenses of flying lessons. She became a part-owner of a small household appliances company, and took a secretarial course and became a receptionist. In 1979 she obtained a flying license and became a professional pilot, and won many awards. She died in her sleep in a Hollywood nursing home on Christmas Day from complications from a series of strokes, at the age of 87.
