A Japanese actress, born in Canada. She studied acting and directing in London, England, after which she obtained a master's degree in philosophy and European art history and a bachelor's degree in Japanese art history. She is also a prolific writer and illustrator. Her credits include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Rabbit Fever (2006), and The Grudge 3 (2009).
